As someone who has always had a passion for helping others and an interest in the human body, Emma chose to enter the field of kinesiology pursuing her undergraduate degree initially at the University of Waterloo and then finishing it at Lakehead University. Emma decided she then wanted to focus more on practical aspects of kinesiology and completed Lakehead’s graduate diploma in professional kinesiology and Master of Science in Kinesiology. The diploma program inspired her to challenge the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario entry to practice examination where she then successfully became a Registered Kinesiologist.
Growing up locally, Emma enjoyed participating in team sports and Scottish highland dancing from a young age. The camaraderie of sport encouraged her to continue playing on sports teams in high school and eventually work with various varsity teams as a student trainer while in university. Emma continues to work with varsity teams, providing sideline care and injury rehab at Algoma University. Emma continues to stay active teaching with the local highland dance studio and instructing group classes and personal training sessions within local fitness and wellness spaces. Recreationally, Emma enjoys spending time learning American Sign Language and enjoying time in nature snowshoeing or kayaking.
